Congratulations to the Northern Cass Hall of Fame inductees, class of 2019. This year's honoree for Distinguished Service is Cletus Helgedalen. Clete and his family will be recognized at the Hall of Fame banquet on Thursday.
Cletus Sylvester Helgedalen was born June 21, 1938, son of Clayton and Florence (Irish) Helgedalen. Cletus attended school in Ulen graduating with the class of ’56. On December 30, 1961, Cletus married Cheryl Burley at Herby Lutheran Church rural Prosper, ND. The couple made their home in Argusville.
After high school “Clete” entered the Army and was stationed in France. He then worked in construction and carpentry. In 1963, he started his long career at Argusville High School as a custodian and continued throughout the consolidation of Cass Valley North and Northern Cass. During his 46 years at the school he made numerous friendships with staff and students alike. They were all special to him. He also drove bus, which he took pride in. He was a jack of all trades. He was an extraordinary man with extraordinary talents. He loved building
things. He was the type of man who would give a helping hand to anyone that needed it.
Cletus was a true family man and adored his wife, children and especially his 5 granddaughters. They were his pride and joy. He made an impact on everyone he met and had touched many lives by being a kind-hearted, patient, and generous man.
