Congratulations to the Northern Cass Hall of Fame inductees, class of 2019. This year's honoree for Distinguished Alumni is Doris Jean Erickson. Doris and her family will be recognized at the Hall of Fame banquet on Thursday.

Doris Jean was born August 8, 1930 in Fargo, ND and attended elementary through high school in Argusville, ND graduating in 1947. She attended Moorhead State Teachers College from 1947 to 1949 graduating in 1949 with a two-year standard degree. She taught in Ulen, MN for three years. She married Gordon Erickson and they have two children, Karen (Terry) Paulson and Kevin (Brenda) Erickson, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

In 1966, Doris Jean started teaching kindergarten in Argusville. She also taught first and second grade. She attended Mayville State College for four summers graduating in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree. She started teaching second grade at Cass Valley North in Grandin, ND in 1976 after reorganization of the Argusville, Gardner, and Grandin Schools. 

At the North Dakota Centennial Music Program in 1989, second graders presented her with 26 red roses, one for each year she had taught. She retired in 1991.
