• Agriculture Education Educator

    Northern Cass has an opening for an agriculture education educator for grades 7-12 at the Northern Cass School District. 

    We are a progressive school district located 25 miles northwest of Fargo.  Northern Cass has a state of the art greenhouse

    which was built in 2014. We have a large shop area which includes wood-working and welding.  All students in grades 7-12

    have a Chromebook.  This position will allow an educator to continue building a young program into a model for the state

    of North Dakota.  Northern Cass is transitioning to a personalized learning system which will require a flexible, passionate,

    connected, and committed educator.



    The qualified applicant would also advise FFA. An extended year contract is available.  Other extra-curricular opportunities

    are available.

     Assistant Central Food Service Manager

    Northern Cass School District is seeking an Assistant Central Food Service Manager for the 2019-2020 school year and beyond. 
    Applicants must have a 3 to 5 years of experience working with large quantity preparation and with supervisory duties.  Depend-
    ing on success within this position, the candidate may have the option of becoming the lead Central Food Service Manager begin-
    ning the 2020-21 school year. Northern Cass is a progressive Class 'B' school with approximately 630 students in PK-12. The
    district is currently in the transition to a personalized learning environment in all grade levels.  Northern Cass was reorganized in
    1997. The school is located on Highway 26 in the middle of the district not within one of the communities. It serves the communities
    of Argusville, Arthur, Hunter, Gardner, Grandin, and Erie. The district’s current open enrollment is 30% of the school’s population.
    Students have chosen Northern Cass from a variety of other districts including, but not limited to:  West Fargo, Fargo, Hope-Page,
    Mayville, Central Cass, and Hillsboro.

    Qualifications
    The central food service manager must have at least 3-5 years of work experience with large quantity food preparation and with
    supervisory duties. The person must possess a high degree of knowledge regarding proper food preparation, sanitation, and safety
    procedures as related to a food service operation. The person must be able to work under pressure. The person must be able to
    make good decisions and direct others to carry out duties assigned. The person must be able to work cooperatively with fellow food
    service employees. The person must enjoy working with students and others.

    Function

    The food service manager is employed to manage the entire breakfast and hot lunch program for the school district. This includes
    menu planning, purchasing food and working with bids, purchasing necessary supplies, food preparation, serving efficiencies,
    sanitation, and safety in daily operations. The duties include management for producing quality food, on time, under sanitary
    conditions, with appealing appearance, and within budget constraints. The manager will work cooperatively with the food service
    cashier in accountability for meals served.
    The terms of employment will be for the period of the school term. The manager will be under the direct supervision of the super-
    intendent. Benefits will be established annually for health insurance, retirement, and leave time.

    Major duties assigned, but not limited to:

    1. Be completely responsible for the menu planning, food preparation, serving, clean up, etc. for the entire breakfast and
      hot lunch program.

    2. Supervise, schedule, and instruct entire kitchen personnel, including cooks, servers, dishwashers, etc.

    3. Secure substitute personnel for regular employees when necessary.

    4. Schedule and direct student food service workers as needed.

    5. Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety for the kitchen staff in food preparation. Have employees wear
      proper
      hair restraints, gloves, and clothing.

    6. Prepare and order regular food and other supplies needed, and at best prices available.

    7. Check in food and supplies received, provide proper storage, and account for invoices and inventory. Place food in
      proper
      rotation on shelf.

    8. Prepare menus and determine quantities of food to be prepared for each menu item and determine their nutritional
      values.
      Make proper use of USDA commodities.

    9. Maintain menus and record of quantities used per meal and total.

    10. Direct preparation of all food items and assist in cooking, baking, and serving. Keep overage to a minimum.

    11. Direct clean-up of kitchen and equipment.

    12. Submit all purchase orders, invoices, monthly inventories, to office at the end of the month.

    13. Participate in state-sponsored workshops.

    14. Work with the administration in developing new methods of food preparation, efficiencies in service, economics, etc.

    15. Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty pounds.

    The salary range and benefits for the position are dependent on experience and is based on the Northern Cass School District
